English Language Academy (ELA) offers a broad range of courses that have been carefully designed and prepared to meet the general and particular needs of students who choose ELA to learn and enhance their English language skills and Vocational/Technical skills.
Our courses are grouped under the following headings.

GENERAL ENGLISH / BUSINESS ENGLISH COURSES

The ELA General English / Business English combined courses are structured to provide a solid grounding and improvement in the core language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Course are offered in the morning and afternoon class periods, are open to students from beginner to Advanced level and focus on a communicative approach to learning. These courses run over 25 weeks and involve  15-20 hours of tuition per week from Monday to Thursday. All students receive a certificate upon completion.

mEXAM PREPARATION COURSES

Cambridge Examination Preparation courses are specifically focused in preparing candidates to successfully complete the examinations which take place throughout the year. The Standard courses, which take place in the morning, commence generally either 10 weeks before (for the March session) or 13 weeks before (for the June and December sessions) the scheduled examination dates. There is also the option of studying for 25 weeks also. We cover all the Cambridge exams including KET, PET, IELTS, FCE, CAE, BEC as well as TIE and ETAPP Exam Preparation Courses.

ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES COURSES

English for Specific Courses aim to familiarise students with the English terminology currently in use in their particular disciplines. An insight is provided into the business culture of each profession. The ESP courses are offered at English Language Academy on either a One-to-One or group basis in the afternoons and students can book for as many hours as they wish. The ESP classes are specialised in the following areas:

  • Business English
  • Agriculture
  • Law
  • Medicine/ Healthcare
  • Travel & Tourism
  • Call Centre/Customer Service
  • Aviation
  • Banking/Finance

Students can also choose to do a combination of General English in a group in the mornings, followed by afternoon English for Special Purposes. The minimum level of English required for ESP is Intermediate. We will accept small groups of no more than 7 at a time for any one ESP subject.

PRIVATE 1-1 ENGLISH LESSONS

Taking private lessons allows students to benefit from flexible English tuition tailored to their individual requirements. Lessons can follow a structured format or can be arranged to concentrate on a particular area of the student's choice.

FETAC 1 YEAR CERT IN BUSINESS STUDIES - (BBSXX)

This Course consists of 8 modules and takes place over 1 Year

Communications Module

Communication skills are highly valued in the workplace but this module extends beyond exclusively vocational needs, recognising that the acquisition of these skills is a life-long process, and central to personal, social and professional development and fulfilment.

xACADEMIC ENGLISH

The Academic English programme at ELA is an intensive English language course that prepares students for study at undergraduate level at University . In order to make sure that international students are prepared for our universities, they need to study a Foundation Course that will give them the same knowledge and skills that an Irish student will have when they start university. Students must have completed high school (year 11 or 12) and have an English level equivalent to 5.0 IELTS

JUNIOR SUMMER SCHOOL 2011 (Ages 12 - 17)

Full Package to include tuition fees, full board accomodation, airport pick up and return & full social activites programme.

The Junior 2 week package includes:

Transfer to and from Dublin Airport

Full Board accomodation with host families sharing a twin room

(packed lunch each day)

Public Transport Card. (U16s only)

Over 16s must pay a E10 per week supplement

One full day trip and one half day trip per week to places of interest in Dublin and surrounding areas.

Students also participate in Arts and Crafts/Irish Dancing Classes/Sports Activities on Monday , Tuesday and Friday afternoons

Evening disco / Irish Ceili on Thursday Evening

Classes Take place Monday to Friday from 9.00am-12.00pm

Free Accomodation for 2 leaders with every group of 20 Children

We can also arrange group travel at an additional cost.

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT IN IRELAND

English Language Academy (ELA) provides a complete advisory and placement service for parents seeking an Irish private high school education for their children. Carefully selected prestigious schools provide a nurturing and intellectually challenging environment for students looking for a pathway to Irish and International universities.

ELA Ireland provides comprehensive support before, during and after they have completed their course of study. Parents can choose from a select portfolio of both boarding and private day schools.

Here at English Language Academy we can offer a pathway to private high school for students with a limited knowledge of English. We offer an English language intensive course with a private tutor, with introductory academic studies to the Irish school curriculum prior to the student's progression to full high school immersion with Irish and international students at their chosen high school.

BECAS MEC GRANT SCHEME

El Gobierno Español está ofreciendo 25,000 ayudas a jóvenes estudiantes entre 16 y 30 años, para realizar cursos de idiomas en el extranjero por 3 semanas.La ayuda es de 1,700 Euros y están destinadas a cubrir la estancia y realización de un curso de tres semanas de duración, con un mínimo de 15 horas de lecciones a la semana, que los alumnos habrán de seguir entre el 1 de junio y el 30 de noviembre del 2011. MEDICAL ENGLISH LESSONS

Taking private lessons in medical English can help clients working in the healthcare sector in Ireland to benefit from flexible English tuition tailored to their individual requirements. Lessons can follow a structured format or can be arranged to concentrate on a particular area of the student's choice.

TEACHER REFRESHER COURSES

The course is aimed at teachers who wish to improve or brush up their knowledge of and skills in English and who also wish to learn the latest teaching techniques.The course is focussed current methodologies and practical teaching skills.

The objectives of the teaching methodology component are to encourage participants to reflect on their own existing classroom experience, both as teachers and as learners and to encourage them to consider their own personal theories, beliefs and assumptions about the learning and teaching process.

All Course participants will receive a report and a Certificate at the end of their Course. Your report will clearly state attendance and the Certificate can state total hours if necessary.
